But\u2026 does anyone purposely formulate cosmetics to be dangerous?<\/p>\n<p>What has been seen recently in the media is the frequency of cosmetics developed without considering minimum levels of safety that end up harming the consumer, causing irritation, allergies and even more serious situations such as blindness.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, Anvisa \u2013 National Health Surveillance Agency \u2013 published a news item in the press highlighting the need for increased attention from the population when using cosmetic products, especially during festivities, such as Carnival, for example.<\/p>\n<p>The year 2023 saw a notable increase in reports of adverse events associated with these products in Anvisa&#039;s information systems, compared to previous years.<\/p>\n<p>The main cosmetic products involved in reported adverse events are varied, including hair styling ointments, hair and scalp care and cleaning products, skin care products, sun protection and self-tanning products, and makeup.<\/p>\n<p>The most common adverse events reported include keratitis, ocular hyperemia, eye irritation, allergic reactions, skin irritation, temporary blindness and ocular burning. A significant number of cases were considered serious, thus requiring the immediate search for medical assistance.<\/p>\n<p>To reduce the risk of adverse events related to the use of cosmetic products, Anvisa recommends the following measures:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Read the product label carefully before using it.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid excessive use of cosmetic products. Follow the application guidelines provided by the manufacturer to ensure safe and effective use.<\/li>\n<li>Do not use cosmetic products not authorized by Anvisa.<\/li>\n<li>Perform an allergy test on a small area of skin before applying the product extensively. This helps identify possible adverse events.<\/li>\n<li>Do not use the product if your skin, eyes or other part of the body are irritated.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid contact of the product with the eyes.<\/li>\n<li>If the product comes into contact with your eyes, immediately wash them with running water for at least 15 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Store cosmetic products in a safe place, away from children and animals.<\/li>\n<li>In case of any adverse event arising from the use of the cosmetic product, immediately notify Anvisa and seek medical assistance, especially if the situation is serious. Adverse events can be reported to Anvisa through the following channels: \u00b7<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Citizens: Limesurvey \u00b7 Companies and health professionals (after registration): Notivisa<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Anyone with a CPF (Individual Taxpayer Registry) can report a complaint, either in their own name or in the name of a third party: e-Notivisa<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To check the authorization of a cosmetic product with Anvisa, it is recommended to carefully examine its label. Each cosmetic product has an Anvisa process number that works as a kind of unique identification. This number starts with \u201c25351\u201d and follows the format \u201c25351.XXXXXX\/20XX-YY\u201d. By using this number, it is possible to check whether the cosmetic product in question is duly authorized by the Agency.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The check<\/strong> can be conducted through the official Anvisa portal, accessible via email. On the page, simply search in the \u201cCosmetics\u201d category to obtain information about product authorization.<\/p>\n<p>Anvisa reinforces that cosmetic products are safe when used correctly. By following the recommendations above, it is possible to reduce the risk of adverse events and enjoy Carnival safely. Everyone&#039;s collaboration is essential to guarantee the integrity of the cosmetics market and the health and well-being of consumers.<\/p>\n<p>Once the consumer identifies that a product has caused him harm, the image of the product and the company will be compromised.
